After a long day of school or work, there’s no better way to relax than to head straight to the bed and get at a decent number of hours of sleep. The increasing rates of people who have sleeping disorders tends to rise everyday. That’s why people having trouble sleeping usually look for sleeping aids and insomnia drugs or different techniques that they can use to get some shuteye. There are alot of techiques all the way from meditation which is usually just very basic meditation. Not that new age stuff but just listening to your own breathing and not trying to think about anything else. I have actually tried this out and if you have not you propably should.
Listening to your breathing sounds makes you a bit more relaxed and when you can start to hear your heartbeat you are close at dozing off. This is why babies usually fall asleep when they are in their mothers lap as they can hear her heartbeat through her chest. This makes the baby relax and helps them fall asleep. Even though an adult is much different from babies the reflexes are still the same. As in walking the natural stepping movements are based on reflexes that were developed while still a small infant. There are also other types of reflexes like stopping breathing while you go under water. This is actually the thing that makes baby swimming possible.
According to studies, there are a number of reasons why we’re having trouble sleeping. For one, we may be thinking too much and the brain doesn’t allow the body to sleep even if the latter calls for it. To be able to improve sleeping patterns and avoid having trouble sleeping, find the cause of the problem. Don’t just try to help with the symptoms. This is usually when people try to look for insomnia drugs and don’t really think what might be causing the symptoms. This way you are heading towards big trouble, since not curing the problem by using insomnia drugs to only treat the symptoms, you are taxing your body in a big way. As you never get any natural sleep your body does not fully rejuvenate and as this builds up it might lead to some serious side-effects like the bursting of long term diseases like atherrosclerosis.
If you’re not sure why you’re having trouble sleeping, try to rewind and think of the activities you did for the day. As a general rule of thumb, we should avoid drinking caffeinated drinks after 4PM. These beverages give us a hard time sleeping because they cause our body to become active. The best drink to consume is a warm glass of milk, as it helps the body relax and we immediately feel sleepy.
Eating a couple of hours before bedtime is a probable cause of having trouble sleeping too. If you are planning on sleeping early, then it would be best to eat early dinners too and try to follow an acid diet. This will give the stomach time to digest the food and will result to better sleep. Smoking and drinking just before bedtime isn’t such a good idea too. Some people think that alcohol can send us straight to sleep, but drinking even a low calorie appetizer can make it more difficult to sleep. Smoking is a stimulant too, so even a few puffs decrease our chances of sleeping soundly. This promotes the need for insomnia drugs.
The sleeping timeframe for the body may also be a cause for not being able to doze off properly. It is also important to set a sleeping timeframe for the body. Setting the same time for going to bed and for getting up the next day won’t get the brain and body “confused.”
There are certain effects of sleep deprivation. While a person is sleeping, the brain and body is re-energized to help it function and perform the next day’s activities well. A person who is sleep deprived is weaker than one who was able to get a full eight hours of sleep. The behavior of a person who lacks sleep is also slightly modified. He may be irritable and less alert, making him unready for changes that might occur abruptly and resort more easily to insomnia drugs. When this happens you don’t allow your body to naturally rest and recover. This will most likely result in problems like described above.
Having trouble sleeping may sound like a very simple issue at first, but the effects of lack of sleep on a person should be taken seriously. The frontal lobe of the brain, which is responsible for speech and the artistic side as well, cannot perform its tasks when it lacks energy. This is why people may tend to speak at a slower pace and it may take a short while before ideas can come together. This makes a person having trouble sleeping appear as he was anemic or somehow retarded.
Constant sleeping problems are also related migraine headaches, which are a very strong type of headaches. There is not a perfect model to explain migraine but it is understood as oversensitivity in the tension receptors in the vains. The vains overreact to a slight change in bloodpressure and cause migraine. Sleep deprivation causes amongst other things, changes in blood circulation of the brain and this way might be behind migraine headaches.
The same effect can be produced by having insomnia drugs which usually have side-effects like this. You will get morning tiredness and sometimes parasomnias like sleep walking and doing things while sleeping. Your family might think you are awake reading those blogposts on the internet but it could really be just parasomnias. This can have some scary results. I myself have heard of a young boy whose parasomnias made him go out of their house in the middle of the night. He opened the door and had his blanket wrapped around him to keep him warm. When he got out he walked almost a mile to a house and rang their doorbell. Well luckily the owner of that house knew where the kid was from and called his parents. That way he got home the same night. This is a true story and a good example of what sleep disorders can do to you. It could have been possible that he was hit by a car, or got kidnapped, or even just disappear. Walk too far from his home and never found back. After all he was less than seven years old.
This is very rare for such young children to go through but in adults who are taking insomnia drugs and are having trouble sleeping, this might actually be a bit more common. Since the common side effects of this type of medication is usually parasomnias you might never know what you will do. I have witnessed minor parasomnias even while taking some stronger pain killers which are not related to sleeping medicaton. These parasomnias were very minor and resulted in screaming while sleeping and standing up and then going back to sleep after lying down again. This is not much but keep in mind that this person was not having trouble sleeping so he was not actually taking any medication for that. It was just prescription pain killers that did that.
